Robert W. Woodruff built The Coca-Cola Company into The Coca-Cola Company, leading it for nearly 60 years from the 1920s into the 1980s. He also, by this account, was the polar opposite of me:
Mr. Woodruff dropped out of college after less than a year, citing boredom. He never read a book, or even a letter longer than two paragraphs. He never made a public speech. He took a nap every day after lunch. He flew on a commercial airliner only once, from Birmingham to Memphis, and didn't like it. And despite his reputation as a great endower of the arts, he never listened to music. He took parties to the theater and left them there, and the only paintings he liked were of wildlife.Where did I go wrong?
From "Floating Off the Page: The Best Stories from The Wall Street Journal's 'Middle Column'."
He was only such a dullard because we didn't invite him to more. Shame on us. We can make up for it by inventing a new project, dedicated to inviting one promising dullard to everything we do this month. Can you manage?
Any chance I could cross-reference your almanac with my compendium of everything in the world?
