Me, I'm in for the electronic pixel party, and I'm just a typical drunk that goes around repeating funny lines I heard five minutes ago on the other side of the room. And occasionally dancing really, really well when a favorite song comes on. Not well enough to score any chicks, mind you, but maybe they'll talk to me later. And trying to scare up a card game, too.

Just keep on juggling those words. I haven't read that you dropped any yet.

There is a short Isaac Asimov story -- I can't remember the title -- in which there are people on two planets who are trying to communicate with one another. The problem is that the transmission time is fairly slow, so it is hard to sustain a normal conversation. One of the leaders takes a cue from watching two old ladies talk and decides that each planet should just send messages to one another at the same time, with the assumption that generally people will say what they need to say and that they will hear what they need to hear.

Transmission time isn't short on the internet, but I think the same logic holds. We chat to no one in particular, and listen in to the chatter of no one in particular, and somehow we walk away with some satisfaction. It is an odd act of faith.

Eddie, I remember that story. Great analogy. And OL guy, your busking suits us.
